Clarow is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

Clarow is a financial information platform based in Australia. We provide free financial planning tools and calculators for Australians. We do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) and do not provide personal financial advice.

2. What information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service. This includes:

  • Financial inputs you provide: income, savings balance, debts, investment holdings, and financial goals entered into calculators or the onboarding flow.
  • Account information: name and email address, collected when you create an account.
  • Email address: if you subscribe for product updates via the email capture form.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and time on site — collected via Google Analytics (anonymised IP).
  • Technical data: browser type, device type, and operating system, collected automatically when you visit the site.

We do not collect your tax file number, government ID, bank account details, or any payment information. All financial inputs are estimates you provide voluntarily.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Power the calculators and projections you request
  • Save your financial profile so you don't need to re-enter data on return visits
  • Send product update emails if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with any party except as described in Section 4.

4. Who we share your information with

We use third-party services to operate Clarow. Each processes data only as instructed and under its own privacy policy:

  • Authentication provider — manages account creation and login. Data stored in the United States.
  • Database provider — stores financial profile data. Data stored in Australia (Sydney region).
  • Analytics provider — anonymised usage data to understand how the product is used. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. Data stored in the United States.
  • Cloud hosting provider — hosts and serves the application. Data processed in the United States.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or a government authority.

5. Data storage and security

Your financial profile data is stored in Australia (Sydney). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Access is restricted to authenticated requests tied to your account.

Guest mode data (entered without an account) is stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to our servers unless you choose to create an account.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or out-of-date information
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Unsubscribe from email communications at any time

7. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication and analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; however, disabling authentication cookies will prevent you from staying logged in.

8. Children

Clarow is not directed at children under 15. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated via email to account holders.
